SUPERVISOR, FOOD and NUTRITION SERVICES
QUALIFICATIONS:
REPORTS TO:
Director/Coordinator of Food and Nutrition Services (FNS)
To assist the Director/Coordinator in planning healthy, nutritious, and appetizing meals in a clean and safe environment that will contribute to the well-being and learning ability of students, and develop team growth through district training opportunities and professional development within the constraints of fiscal boundaries.
SUPERVISES:
Food and Nutrition Services Managers and Assistants in concert with Principals and assigned support personnel.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Assist the Director/Coordinator in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of the district-wide food service program.
*Evaluate and assess students’ medical needs related to nutrition issues and develop appropriate diet therapy plans.
*Serve as a resource for students, parents, teachers, employees, and administrators.
*Assist in implementing activities that contribute to increasing participation in school meal programs.
Respond to requests for guest speakers or information on nutrition topics.
*Provide staff development activities which enhance the understanding of nutrition.
*Assist teachers and school teams in incorporating current knowledge of nutrition into the classroom curriculum.
Design and implement nutrition and wellness education materials.
*Educate the district personnel and the community about the Food, Nutrition and Wellness Program.
Act as a liaison between the district and other organizations which promote nutrition education.
*Serve as Chairperson for the District Wellness Committee.
*Oversee Healthy School Teams at the individual school sites as they relate to nutrition.
*Assist in the purchasing and tracking of all food and supplies for the district-wide food service program.
*Provide nutrient analysis on district cycle menus and related foods.
*Implement and maintain district cycle menus on Department software.
*Assist in marketing, coordinating, delivering and tracking of all activities of the program.
Assist in the organization of school health fairs, career programs and wellness workshops.
Write grant proposals to support nutrition education as needed.
*Assist the Director/Coordinator in the evaluation of school food service programs annually as required by federal, state, and local rules and regulations.
*Aid in training of all FNS employees in all FNS Department operations.
Serve on screening and interview teams to select qualified applicants to fill vacancies within the FNS Department.
Assist in preparing bid specifications and selecting vendors as needed.
Assist to manage and administer all facets of assessing, developing, and implementing effective purchasing and warehouse programs for the district.
Assist in overseeing the district’s warehouse and distribution system.
Assist in the supervision and coaching of assigned personnel, conduct annual performance appraisals, and make recommendations for employment action.
Submit recommendations for new/revised policies and programs to Director/Coordinator.
*Visit schools on a regular basis and provide technical assistance as needed.
*Obtain an appropriate number of CE hours annually to maintain USDA

*Attend training sessions, conferences, and workshops to increase skills and keep abreast of current practices, programs, and legal requirements.
Keep the Director/Coordinator informed of activities.
Perform job responsibilities with sustained focus and attention to detail.
Be knowledgeable of and adhere to Board policies and Department procedures.
Maintain confidentiality regarding school and workplace matters.
Perform other duties and tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this Department.
Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
*Essential Performance Responsibilities
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and or up to 20 pounds of force as frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force as needed to move objects.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
